Background

Today, more and more teams start their work together remotely, and launching a project for the first time can feel uncomfortable and alienating. We began to think about how collaborative VR might be leveraged to its full potential in order to address this issue and foster team-building in a digital space.

This project was conceived to meet the needs of global teams onboarding and collaborating in virtual environments for the first time during the pandemic, with the goals of:

  • Creating an efficient tool for any team all over the world that needs its members to establish strong professional relationship based on empathy, trust and respect.

  • Exploring the opportunities of VR as a tool for businesses and using its psychological and playful potential to its best.

Development

Within the scope of this project, we used Figma, Blender and Photon Bolt for Unity to produce materials at various fidelities, including:

  • Detailed user personas

  • Branding guidelines and a basic design system for the local UI

  • Journey maps for onboarding, collaboration and post-interaction follow-ups

  • Low-fi mockups of the game interface at each step

  • Interactive prototypes built in Unity and leveraged in user testing sessions

User Testing

The implementation of research-backed updates to existing features, as well as the net-new Ask Unlock forum led to

  • increased usage of the chatbot tool, thanks to the many connection points between both pillars,

  • a higher rate of report submission per chatbot interaction, linked to reduced drop-off during the journey, and

  • a significant reduction of complaints and requests logged through the chatbot.
